A cancer diagnosis changes everything.

When Matt’s father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, treatment quickly became a constant part of daily life. Appointments were frequent, physically demanding, and essential to his care. But getting to those appointments wasn’t always easy.

Coordinating transportation, managing work and personal responsibilities, and coping with the emotional weight of a diagnosis placed an additional burden on the family.

On treatment days, delays or uncertainty in transportation meant patients could wait for hours, creating stress and potentially impacting their ability to receive timely care.

This experience revealed a critical and often overlooked barrier for many patients: reliable transportation to life-saving treatment.

When patients cannot get to their appointments consistently, the effectiveness of their care—and ultimately their recovery—is compromised.

The Healing Train was founded to address this need.

Our mission is to remove transportation barriers for cancer patients by partnering with hospitals, treatment centers, and community sponsors. By providing reliable rides to every appointment, we ensure patients can focus on what matters most—their health and recovery, without the added stress of logistical challenges.
